Solemn Celebration of the Easter Vigil
This was followed by the Liturgy of the Word, where several readings from Sacred Scripture were proclaimed, recounting God’s plan of salvation from the beginning of creation to the Resurrection of Jesus. Each reading reflected God’s faithfulness and His constant presence in the lives of His people. The faithful listened attentively as the story of salvation unfolded, allowing them to meditate on the journey of faith and the fulfillment of God’s promises through Christ. The joyful singing of the Gloria added a vibrant and unforgettable moment, filling the church with praise and celebration.
Another meaningful part of the Easter Vigil was the Renewal of Baptismal Promises, where the faithful renewed their commitment to reject sin and live as true followers of Christ. This moment reminded everyone of the grace received through Baptism and the responsibility to live a life rooted in faith, love, and holiness. The solemn celebration then continued with the Holy Eucharist, the highest form of thanksgiving, where the community shared in the joy of the Risen Lord and celebrated the victory of life over death.
On the evening of April 4, 2026, the faithful gathered at the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the solemn celebration of the Easter Vigil, one of the most important and sacred liturgical celebrations of the Church. Held at 6:30 PM, the Vigil marked the joyful anticipation of Christ’s Resurrection and served as a powerful reminder that light triumphs over darkness, and life overcomes death. As the mother of all vigils, this celebration invited the community to reflect deeply on the saving love of God and to prepare their hearts for the glorious celebration of Easter Sunday.
The celebration began with the Lighting of the Fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle, symbolizing Jesus Christ as the Light of the World. As the candle entered the darkened church, its flame slowly spread among the faithful, creating a beautiful and prayerful atmosphere throughout the Sanctuary. This sacred moment reminded everyone that Christ’s Resurrection brings hope, renewal, and salvation to all who believe in Him. It was a moving beginning that set the tone for the solemnity and beauty of the entire evening.
The beauty of the Easter Vigil was made even more special through the dedication of the different ministries, the service of the MMSJ brothers, and the support of the parents and the entire community. From the readers and altar servers to the choir and usherettes, every role was carried out with reverence and devotion. Their united efforts created an atmosphere of prayer, grace, and joyful participation. Truly, the Easter Vigil became a night of awe and spiritual renewal, bringing hearts closer to God and strengthening the faith of all who gathered in the light of the Risen Christ.
